ary is a partner in the firm who began his practice in 1980. He maintains a substantial transactional practice principally involving small business ventures, estate planning, probate, commercial transactions, real estate transactions, taxation, and employment. He also represents clients in disputes and litigation in these areas as well.
Lary was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended the University of North Carolina as a Morehead Scholar and received a B.A. degree in Mathematics in 1975. He then served as a foreign missionary in Helsinki, Finland, for two years. In 1980, he received his law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University, with honors. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Lary is a member of the Idaho State Bar and the American Bar Association, including its Sections on Real Property, Probate and Trust Law and Taxation. He is a former president of the Eastern Idaho Estate Planning Council, the Advisory Board of the Good Samaritan Center of Idaho Falls, the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army of Idaho Falls, the Bonneville County Board of Community Guardian, the Region Six Affordable Housing Task Force, the Garfield-Ucon Canal Company, and the Idaho Falls Kiwanis Club. He has also been a board member of the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Idaho Falls and Bonneville County, the Rocky Mountain Venture Group, and the City Council for the City of Ucon. He has served as a financial officer of the Grand Teton Council of the Boy Scouts of America for almost thirty years. In 2012 he ran for election to the Idaho House of Representatives from District 34.
Lary is a frequent speaker at programs regarding wills, estate planning, probate, and employment relations. He has spoken to various community and professional groups including the Eastern Idaho Estate Planning Council, Ricks College (BYU-Idaho), Idaho State University, Eastern Idaho Technical College, the Idaho Education Association, the Idaho Law Foundation, several religious and charitable organizations, and employee associations for several local employers including the Idaho National Laboratory and the federal government.
Lary and his wife, Louise, raised seven children l on a small working farm near Ucon, Idaho. Louise teaches fourth-graders at the Taylor’s Crossing Charter School. She and Lary are actively involved in Scouting, sports, charitable and religious activities, and traveling to visit their children and grandchildren. Lary enjoys backpacking, fly fishing, sports, astronomy, and Mormon religious history, and he is an occasional collector of books, coins, rocks and astro-photography.
