teve is a partner in the firm who began his practice in 1985. He enjoys an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and has extensive experience litigating a broad range of complex claims in state and federal court, on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. Over the years, he has successfully pursued and defended claims involving breach of contract, commercial matters, personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, products liability, professional malpractice, insurance coverage and bad faith, trade secret misappropriation, crop damage, construction disputes, employment matters, discrimination, estate and probate disputes, civil rights violations, and criminal defense.
Steve obtained a multi-million dollar award for a client in one of the seminal trade secret misappropriation cases in Idaho, and successfully defended the award on appeal. He has also been involved in recovering numerous large awards for individual clients in injury and death claims arising from auto accidents, defective products, medical malpractice and the like.
Steve successfully defended another client in what was at the time one of the largest complex crop damage cases in Idaho history. He is defense counsel for a number of national clients in Idaho asbestos litigation, and represented another major client in the Idaho diet drug litigation. He has acted as coverage counsel for national and regional insurers and defended them against claims of bad faith, as well as defending claims brought against their insureds.
Steve was born in Boise, Idaho in 1955, and grew up in Idaho Falls. At the University of Idaho, he received a B.S. degree from the College of Forestry in 1981 and his law degree from the College of Law with honors in 1985. He is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Idaho and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Idaho State Bar Association, the Seventh Judicial District Bar Association and the Eagle Rock Inns of Court. He is a past president of the Idaho Legal Aid Board of Directors and continues to serve on the Board.
Steve is married to Virginia Ann Gale of Moscow, Idaho and they have two children, Nathan and Jessica. He is a former long time river guide on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in the heart of central Idaho’s wilderness, and loves the Idaho outdoors, fly-fishing, hunting, camping and river rafting. He is also involved in the perpetual renovation of the old house he and Ginny own together.
