Biography

Mike joined the firm in 1998 and transitioned to an of counsel role in 2006. He enjoys an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell and limits his practice to work in governmental relations on behalf of national, regional and local organizations.

Mike is a prominent advisor to businesses and the Legislature on general business, finance and insurance issues. He has been the author or coauthor of much of virtually all of the more complex and sophisticated securities, insurance and finance related legislation considered by the Legislature for the last 30 years. As one of Idaho’s Uniform Laws Commissioners he is active in advancing uniformity in the treatment of interstate business operations.

Mike is a lifelong resident of Idaho and a graduate of the University of Idaho with degrees in Business and Law. He has served in a number of appointed Idaho state government positions since his admission to the bar and has worked with the Legislature and administrative agencies since 1971. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Idaho Personnel Commission and as a Commissioner on Uniform Laws.

Mike has served as Director of the Idaho Department of Insurance, Deputy Director of the Idaho Department of Finance, the Division Chief of the Attorney General’s Business Regulation Division and as the Administrator of the Division of Financial Management. He is also a past Chairman of the Business and Corporate Law Section of the Idaho State Bar Association and has served as Chairman of the Legislative and Mergers and Acquisitions Committees.

Mike is an avid golfer, bird hunter and fly fisherman and he and his wife Wilma enjoy their summer and winter activities at their cabin and ranch.
